I was born in Beirut, Lebanon, where I lived through major wars and regional political instability. My life was continuously filled with moments of fear, uncertainty and instability.
In January of 2014, I made the decision to immigrate to Canada with the objective to plan for a better, stable and more certain future. When the decision was made and the immigration date was set, the idea of leaving my country, family and friends hit me really hard. My excitement to discover a new country was overwhelmed by the fear of the unknown and the sadness of leaving my beloved ones. Yes, immigration is destabilizing, and created a familiar feeling for me: fear, uncertainty and instability. It was the hardest decision I have ever made in my life… but was it the worst?
Immigrating was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. A new, exciting chapter of my life started the day I landed in Toronto. This chapter has been full of unique episodes that have shaped my personality, and my social and professional life forever.
The goal of my blog is to share with you my first experiences in Canada and provide personal perspective that might be of interest to those planning a move or embarking on a new adventure.
I hope you enjoy this journey with me. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.
